What type of artist are you?

Painter, I use watercolours, acrylics and mixed media in both figurative and more abstract styles.

Do you have a background in art/design – when did you first start your creative journey?  

Art has always been a big part of my life both personally and professionally working with children, young people and more recently with adults. I run local classes and workshops.

Can you describe your creative process?

I am influenced by the beautiful area of the Chichester Harbour and other coastal areas in the UK. I start with sketches and photographs for inspiration.

What or who inspires you?

The light and colours of the Natural world influence me and I am inspired by the work of many different artists from the Impressionists to the Modern Abstract artists.

What do you enjoy most about the process?  

Everything!  Especially when I have successfully finished a painting!

Can you describe your studio/workspace? 

My studio, which is in my garden is small, cosy and splattered in paint!  

What keeps you going whilst you work?

Listening to music and Radio 4 !

What can we expect to see from you on this years’ art trail? 

New figurative work and some larger mixed media canvasses.

Why did you want to take part in the trail?

The Emsworth Arts Trail has many very talented artists and I feel privileged to be part of it.

What are your artistic ambitions?

To pass on my love of art to others without judgement.
